xxSOLDxx EARLY PENNSYLVANIA LONG RIFLE CIRCA 1775

Of The Type Attributed to Wolfgang Haga Circa 1770-1785

Beautiful unmolested early Haga style Kentucky rifle.  This is one of the fines Haga rifles known with many early features such as bold architecture, large caliber (.62), wide flat butt, bold raised carving and a flintlock with the early feature of an internal frizzen spring screw.  The lock was undoubtedly made by the gunsmith himself in the Germanic style.  This rifle features a nicely figured tiger maple full stock with bold raised carving forward and to the rear of the cheekpiece, around the barrel tang, behind the rear ramrod ferrule, raised lock and sideplate panels and beavertail drops and finally raised carved double beauty lines along the lower stock edge and the length of the barrel. This rifle features the early silver "hunters star" inlaid above the cheekpiece.  The brass mountings include the rare feature (for a Haga) of a lightly engraved four piece patchbox.  This rifle measures 57 inches overall with a 42 1/4 inch full octagon swamped barrel.**SOLD**

Condition:  Excellent for its age.  Original wood and wood surface with no repairs or restoration.  The metal surfaces have not been touched and the barrel and lock have mottled deep brown surfaces.  The brass is well oxidized with true age related untouched brown/mustard color.
