xxSOLDxx York County Pennsylvania Screw Tip Powder Horn

This is one of my favorite "smalls" item.  The overall dimensions of the frame are 19 1/2" wide by 23 1/2" high.  The centerpiece of this display is a York County screw tip powder horn dating to the late 18th or early 19th century.  The horn measures 13" across the curve and includes its original screw tip which has a poured pewter collar tip.  The butt diameter is 2 5/8" is domed with chip carving and beaded beauty lines and a forged staple strap holder.  The screw tip has a large beaded beauty line where it meets the horn proper, a collar, and the four beaded beauty lines.  The screw tip is made to serve as a fill-funnel for filling the powder horn proper with gun powder.  The neatest feature of the horn is a in-period engraved pewter commemorative plaque which is engraved with an Indian warrior with gunstock warclub in hand approaching a Pennyslvania square dressed two story log home.  The pewter plaque and engraving dates to when the horn was made, late 18th century or early 19th century.  Attached to the horn by a deerskin leather string is a neat period powder measure made of bone and neatly turned with a carved feather hanging tab.  The other mounted accessories include a really nice antler handle hand forged belt knife with a silver end cap with the engraved initials "LN" in early caligraphic form.  This display also includes a patch knife with antler handle and a leather awl with an antler handle.  Completing the offering is a period silver shoe buckle, a 18th c. pewter spoon, a green horn vessel, and a cloth shot pouch.  SOLD
