xxSOLDxx AMERICAN RIFLEMAN'S KNIFE

Circa 1840-1860

This American rifleman's or fighting knife dates circa 1840-1860 and comes complete with its old and what looks like its original sheath. The sturdy blade is a spear point style with a medial ridge on both sides. The knife measures 13 3/8 inches overall and the heavy blade measures 8 7/8 inches long and 1 1/2 inches at its widest and about 1/4" thick at the medial ridge. The knife is mounted in German silver with buffalo horn scales fastened to the blade with three iron rivets. The sheath is old but the German silver mounts appear to be made by a different hand and possibly later.**SOLD**

Condition: Excellent. The buffalo horn scales are de-laminating slightly near the butt and the bolster (see pics). Blade has light "salt & pepper" pitting.
