American Bowie Knife

Wonderfully made Bowie knife of American manufacture. Undoubtedly made by a skilled cutler in the last half of the 19th cnetury.The knife measures 13 1/4 inches overall with the clip point blade measuring 8 1/4 inches. This knife is substntial  with a blade thickness measuring 3/16 of an inch. The clip point blade has a 5 inch false edge and is hollow ground.  The scales are walnut and are fastened by three brass rivets.  The cast brass crossguard is substntial and measures 3 3/4 inches.
