Fighting Knife
19th Century
Hand made American fighting knife, well used with a deep patina. This early knife measures 11inches overall with a 6 3/4 inch dagger blade with both edges sharpened the length of them. The walnut scales are attached to the blade with three hand forged iron rivets with the unique feature of the scales being about 1/2 inch shy of the butt and the remainder of the 1/2 inch being drilled for a lanyard. The "S" shaped crossguard is made of sheet brass and is somewhat loose.
Condition: Good. The crossguard is somewhat loose and one of the walnut scales has an ancient triangular shaped chip out of it where the forward rivet is.
