Large Civil War Era Clip Point Bowie Knife

Large early, possibly pre-Civil War signed Americn Bowie knife measuring 15 3/8 inches overall with a 10 inches clip point blade with a 4 inches false edge. Very substantial Bowie with a thick heavy, well made hand forged blade. The blade measures 1/4 inch at the spine and tapers smaller to the butt as a sure sign of hand forging. Forged iron 3 1/2 inch crossguard which is forged integral with the bolster. The butt cap is brazed sheet iron and the well shaped bone scales are fastened with two hand forged rivets.
