xxSOLDxx AMERICAN HORSEMANS SABER Rev War Period
Attributed to Jeremiah Snow circa 1775-1783
Curved 33" single edge triple fuller blade. Brass stirup hilt compirising a straight counterguard with a curved quillon and a button finial. Small vasiform brass pommel and a tapered cherry spiral carved grip are both hallmarks of Snow. This type of sword is illustrated in George Neumann's "Swords & Blades of the American Revolution", page 125 No. 192.S. There are two nearly identical swords illustrated in Bonham's catalogue dated October 12, 2006 of the William H. Guthman Collection, Part I, Pg 70, No. 137 & 138.**SOLD**
Condition: Poor, relic condition. The triple fuller blade has numerous spots of deep pitting. The counterguard branch is broken (in period) and missing. The cherry grip has a 1/4" wide split on top running the length of the grip, and there is a 1/16" wide split running 2 1/2" from the forward ferrule into the grip.
