xxSOLDxx EARLY BERKS COUNTY LONGRIFLE attributed to Martin Boyer

Circa 1780

This is an early Pennsylvania Kentucky rifle attributed to the maker Martin Boyer.  Full tiger maple stock in its original flintlock configuration.  Lightly incise carved behind the cheekpiece, around the barrel tang and around the rear ramrod ferrule.  The brass mountings include a four piece simple patchbox, lightly and simply engraved to match the incise carving.   Well used but well taken care of with an in-period break at the wrist which has been nearly invisibly repaired.  The overall length is 58 1/2" and the full octagon rifled swamped 50 caliber barrel measures 43". **SOLD**

Condition:  Original flintlock and old surface.  No wood repairs other than the invisible break at the wrist and a 1 7/8 inch sliver out of the forestock running from the brass nose cap back and not repaired-as clearly seen in one photo.  I believe the barrel has been shortened at the breech in-period by about 3" based upon the spacing of the ramrod ferrules.
