xxSOLDxx GOLDEN AGE RAISED CARVED SIGNED BOYS FLINTLOCK
Signed "S. Pannabecker" Raised and Incise Carved Golden Age "Small Made" Boys Rifle
This beautiful raise and incise carved flintlock boys rifle is signed "S.Pannabecker" on the top flat of the octagon to round key fastened smooth rifle barrel. This rifle was found in an old stone house along the Delaware River north of New Hope. It is nearly identical to rifle No. 68, Pgs. 186-188 in Joe Kindig Jr.'s book THOUGHTS ON THE KENTUCKY RIFLE in its GOLDEN AGE. It's overall length is 49 1/2" with a barrel length of 34 1/2". It's full stock consists of strong tiger maple with an old dark finish. It is profusely incise carved forward and behind the cheekpiece, around the comb and forward of the patchbox at the wrist as well as on either side of the rear ramrod ferrul. It has wonderful raised carving around the barrel tang. The four piece neatly engraved patchbox is similar to but not identical to the Kindig rifle. All in all, a very rare rifle.**SOLD**
Condition: Very good to excellent. Old surface, a 1/4" x 1/2" patch just behind the rear of the lock plate. Replacement ramrod and reconverted to flint.
