xxSOLDxx KENTUCKY PISTOL Percussion

Pennsylvania Circa 1850

This brass mounted American full stock pistol measures 12 1/2 inches overall.  It exhibits some unusual and desirable features such as a 7 inch engraved two stage brass "canon" style barrel with neat arms panoply engraved on the top and nicely filed "wedding bands" as well as muzzle ring.  The barrel is probably American made as there are no proof marks visible.  The original percussion lock is stamped "JOSEPH GOLCHER" and has a bird and fauna as well as scroll engraving.  Joseph Golcher was a lock distributor working out of Philadelphia.  The full tiger maple stock is in excellent condition with a deep original violin finish which obscures most of the tiger graining except at the edges where the original surface is worn thin.  The stock is inlaid with five German silver engraved inserts and matches the engraved German silver sideplate and has a pewter nose cap.  The brass triggerguard has a stylized pineapple finial and is engraved to match the stirrup form brass buttcap.  Interesting untouched late pistol.

Condition:  Excellent.
