xxSOLDxx KENTUCKY PISTOL SIGNED "A. KOPP"

Circa 1800-1810

Golden age Kentucky pistol signed "A. Kopp" on the lock as well as the top flat of the barrel.  This was undoubtedly made early in Kopp's career when he was working in York County Pennsylvania and before his move to Huntingdon County.  The flintlock is original and probably made by Kopp himself and not a commercial lock.  Beautiful full tiger maple stock with an unusual "recurve" form to the grip.  The highly figured tiger maple stock has an old surface with a blackish appearance.  The pistol measures 10" overall and the rifled octagon barrel measures 5".  The trigger is broad with a terminal curl and early in form and appearance.  The brass mountings are neatly engraved.
