xxSOLDxx NAMED AND DATED REV WAR POWDERHORN
"Joshua Meech, Germantown 1780"
This is a beautiful Revolutionary War period, named and dated powderhorn measuring 11 3/8 inches long across the curve with the butt measuring 2 3/4 inches in diameter. Old surface throughout. Neatly engraved with the owner's name (Joshua Meech), date (1780), location (Germantown), and the phrase "AYE READY" (Are ye ready?) as well as a beautifully rendered three masted tall ship, probably the 'Rainbow". The entire butt end is engraved with neat crosshatching and demilune lobes. The butt itself looks like it is made of cork and then either tarred or painted with a thick coating, standard construction for naval powderhorns. **SOLD**
