xxSOLDXX PIPE TOMAHAWK-AMERICAN OR ENGLISH
Blade Marked With Indecipherable Makers Mark; Original haft
Pipe tomahawk, original uncleaned condition. The hand forged head measures 7 11/16" x 3" blade and has a multilayered mottled grey and brown oxidized surface which has not been touched. The bowl is acorn shaped with a thick neck and is seated on a cheveroned saddle. There is a stamped maker's cartouche which I am unable to decipher. The original haft is probably ash and has a deep multilayered brown patina that only centuries of age and use can produce. I believe this tomahawk to be American manufacture but could be English.**HOLD**
Condition: Excellent "as found" condition in terms of head and haft surface. Deep surface patinae to both the head and haft. The head was probably loose and has had glue applied between the haft and head so that now the head is tight to the haft. Note, the haft does not draw so it could be that it is blocked, was not drilled through to begin with, or is an early replacement. In any event, I believe that the haft is early and original to the head.
