xxSOLDxx Pipe Tomahawk-Signed and Dated

Initials "JP" and "1843" Inlaid in Brass on Blade

This is a fairly unique pipe tomahawk from the second quarter of the 19th century.  The tomahawk head measures 7 1/2" long, blade is 2 5/8", and the bowl measures 1 5/8" from the file cut chevron saddle.  The original osage haft measures 19" in length.  The haft has 7 original brass tacks and there are holes where 13 are missing.  **SOLD**

Condition:  Good.  The head is in excellent untouched condition.  The original haft has been cleaned and is in poor condition.  There are 7 original brass tacks but holes and/or evidence of 13 missing tacks.  The obverse side of the haft has a split  running from the head-end of the haft 9" into the main haft.  The reverse side of the haft is split from near the "mouthpiece" 10 inches toward the head.  Both splits are stable.
