xxSOLDxx REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD OFFICER'S SPADROON

Circa 1775 to 1785

This Revolutionary War period officer's stirrup guard spadroon or short saber measures 35 7/8 inches overall with a 29 7/8 inch single fuller, single edge straight blade showing no markings.  It is brass mounted which exhibit traces of original gilding.  It has a spiral carved bone grip with the brass ribbon long since missing.  It has a long 12 facet pommel with a small bulbous capstan and still retains its original knot ring. English (probably) or possibly American.  **SOLD**

Condition:  Very Good.  As noted above, the flat brass ribbon grip wrap is missing and there is a small wedge shaped chip out of the bone grip at the pommel juncture (well pictured).  Light salt and pepper pitting on the blade.  This sword is in the black and has never been cleaned or polished.
