xxSOLDxx Signed American Bowie Knife Circa 1840-50

Rare signed American Bowie knife by surgical instrument maker Samuel Jackson of Baltimore.  Large 14" overall length with a 9" clip point blade which is 9" x 1 5/8" x 1/8" with a tapered tang running the length of the checkered dark hardwood grips.  The grips are fastened to the full length tang by 5 steel pins as is typical of Jackson's knives.  The ricasso is marked "Samuel/Jackson/Baltimore and the blade has a 5 5/8" false edge.  There is a very similar signed Jackson Bowie pictured on Pg. 330 in Norm Flayderman's seminal work "The Bowie Knife". Flayderman dates these circa 1840-50 **SOLD**
