xxSOLDxx Western Pipe Tomahawk with Original Beaded Drop Ca.1850
Western Pipe Tomahawk with original brain tanned deerskin beaded drop Ca. 1850
This is "hands down" the best western pipe tomahawk which I have had the priviledge of representing. This pipe tomahawk is a western axe which is untouched with a deep multi layered patina on the hand forged iron head. The head is quite loose. The length of the haft is 29" and the hand forged head measures 9 7/8" long with a 3 3/8" blade. This tomahawk retains its original buckskin gasket. The haft retains a deep mellow patina with its original red wash tint and file burns. The drop is original to this tomahawk and is supple brain tanned buckskin with nice early beading of the type seen in the western Great Lakes region. The beadwork appears to be sinew sewn with lazy stitches and is nearly complete in a "ladder" design on the fringed drop. Much of the beading on the grip is missing.
Condition: Excellent, as described above. Untouched.
