xxSOLDxxEarly Shooting Rig

18th or Early 19th Century Complete with Powderhorn and 18thC Knife.

This shooting outfit was found in Lehigh County Pennsylvania 40 years ago and has been in a private collection since then.  It is made entirely of home tanned pigskin, sewn with linen thread.  It measures 31 1/2" from the apex of the shoulder strap to the tip of the "long flap".  The "D" style bag proper measures 9" by 7 5/8" and the two piece strap measures 46" with a hand forged iron buckle allowing it to lengthen another 1 1/2".  The "long flap" measures 8 1/2".  The powderhorn dates to the late 18th or early 19th century and measures 13 1/4" from the spout tip to the turned domed walnut butt which is 2 3/8" in diameter.  The stag crown hand forged 18th century knife measures 11 5/8" from the crown extreme to the tip of the blade which measures 6 5/8" from bolster to tip.

Condition:  Excellent.  The home tanned pigskin is supple for its age with little or no brittleness.  All of the seams are intact and original with the exception of where the powderhorn suspension strap attaches to the horn spout.  Nice complete rig with no major flaws.
