**SOLD**Rare original condition F & I War or Rev War spontoon.  The hand forged and neatly filed head measures 16 inches and is attached to the original hardwood haft with a forged iron wrapped and tapered socket.  This spontoon has the rarely found original forged iron butt point.  Overall length of this spontoon is 64 1/2", the head measures 16" including the socket and the original forged butt point measures 5".  A similar head was excavated at Fort Tyconderoga and was part of the George Neuman collection and is pictured in his book "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution"  Pg. 376-377.  **SOLD**
