xxSOLDxxHUNTING POUCH FOR KENTUCKY RIFLE 18th or 19th CENTURY

Beaver tail flap shooting pouch 18th or 19th century with horn, knife, measure, and contents

Very scarce complete hunting bag and rig.  This is a nice completely intact shooting rig of the late 18th or more likely first half of the 19th century.   Overall length from the apex of the strap to the tip of the "beavertail" flap is approximately 27", and the bag itself is 8" wide by 7" tall.  The bag proper is made of stiff bull hide while the original flap is made of soft home tanned pigskin, dressed on the outside.  The strap is original to the bag and in pretty good shape with one 2" x 1" glued on support strip to maintain the integrity of the strap where is had cracked through.  It appears to be the original tack decorated horn (though I can't swear to it), and the original bone powder measure.  the knife sheath is neatly "stitched" to the back of the bag with a buckskin thong and all of this looks like it is original to the bag and not a later enhancement or restoration.  The knife itself is a beauty and looks to be neatly made by an American maker with a clip point, single blood groove, with fancy engraved brass bolster and engraved sheet of brass wrapped around the butt end of the blade, sandwiched between antler slab grips held on by three rusted pins.  I believe that the knife has always been with this bag.  The contents of the bag include an old priming horn with original cork stopper, an old neatly forged .38 cal bullet mold, a ball bag which would hold .40 cal or smaller balls, and an old Remington cap tin with caps.  All in all a neat complete shooting rig.  Note, this listing is for the bag, powder horn, knife, and bag contents only.  The last picture shows the bag with a couple of other items which are or will be listed separately.**SOLD**

Condition:  Good to very good as outlined above.  The knife blade is heavily pitted in spots.
