REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD MUSKET-AMERICAN

Committee of Safety Stocked in American Tiger Maple

This musket is an American copy of the second model Brown Bess, utilizing salvaged 2nd Model Brown Bess parts including the flintlock with "TOWER" engraved at the tail and the British crown with "GR" engraved below the crown between the hammer and flash pan; the 41 1/2 inch .75cal  British proof marked round barrel, the cast brass trigger guard, the ramrod ferrules (pre 1777 design with no Pratt improvement), and the typical post 1775 flat Bess design side plate measuring 6 3/8 inches.  The full tiger maple stock in old dry. historic surface is purely American with a slightly reduced comb and no swell at the entry ferrule. This is a classic Committee of Safety or Continental Armory built American Revolutionary War period musket.

Condition: Very Good/Excellent consistent with its age (circa 1777-1783) and use. The tiger maple full stock is complete as built with no wood replacement or restoration. All the hardware exhibit old patina. The flintlock hammer is an American replacement done when the COS or Arsenal restocked the captured Brown Bess (circa 1777-1783).
