PENNSYLVANIA / KENTUCKY FLINTLOCK PISTOL $1600

18th Century Bucks or Lehigh County

This flintlock pistol hails from the Lehigh/Bucks County area of Pennsylvania and dates circa 1790+/- and measures 13 3/4 inches overall with a 7 3/4 inch round .52cal barrel. The full stock is made of strong tiger maple and its mounts are engraved brass.  The original flintlock has an early convex surface, is in its original flintlock configuration, and is signed "KETLAND & Co.". Early features which place it in the 18th century are it's convex lock which has no external bridle.  The triggerguard features a classic acorn finial and is engraved in the 18th century manner. The brass muzzle cap is a wrap-around sheet with the stock wood end grain exposed which places it in the Lehigh and/or Bucks County region of Pennsylvania.  In addition, the pistol' ramrod ferrule is smooth and un-faceted which is also a Bucks County feature.

Condition:   Very Good.  Original flintlock.  The stock has a minor restoration of 1/4"  x  3" strip replaced above the top of the flintlock (see last pic). In addition, one ramrod ferrule is missing from long ago.
