AMERICAN PERCUSSION PISTOL

Signed "J.M.CASWELL LANCASTER" on Barrel

Very high grade mid-19th century signed half stock Pennsylvania made pistol in excellent untouched condition.  The walnut halfstock has a very finely checkered (approx. 24 lines per inch) grip with German silver engraved mounts and inlays.  A couple of very attractive and unusual features of this high grade pistol are the fine checkering, the nicely engraved American eagle in side profile as well as the unusual mounting of the high quality original percussion lock which is fully engraved and signed "S.CLARK EXTRA".  The lock has the unique mounting of the lock with a single screw between the hammer and the nipple which fastens to the barrel bolster (i.e. no thru-bolts).  The removable neatly engraved and signed barrel is fastened to the stock with a single key and a hook breach.  The pistol measures 15 1/2 inches overall with a .50 cal octagon deeply rifled barrel.
