KENTUCKY FLINTLOCK PISTOL CIRCA 1790

Attributed to Virginia

This is a beautiful Southern Kentucky pistol which dates circa 1790.  The pistol measures 14 1/2 inches overall with a 8 inch full octagon rifled .38cal barrel. The full tiger maple stock has a wonderful raised carving behind the barrel tang and sports it's original high gloss historic finish.  The mounts are neatly engraved coin silver (the butt cap, escutcheon, and escutcheon on the brass trigger guard) and typical brass.  The pistol is in original flint condition with a late 18th century lock signed "T. KETLAND & Co."
